Is RedotPay legal in Argentina?
Whether the app accepts your DNI and whether the CNV has registered a provider are separate questions:
- Does RedotPay restrict Argentina? On 17 September 2026 all three of RedotPay's official Help Center restriction lists (unsupported countries, card issuance, card delivery) were checked, and Argentina is on none of them. Residents of countries on the card-issuance list cannot get either a virtual or a physical card; Argentina is not one of them.
- What have CNV / the Boletín Oficial published about virtual-asset providers? Ley N° 27.739 placed Proveedores de Servicios de Activos Virtuales (PSAV) under CNV and required a central registry. Resolución General CNV 994/2024 (Boletín Oficial Spanish text) created the Registro de PSAV and required inscription before operating the activities defined in art. 4° bis of Ley 25.246 as amended. Resolución General 1058/2025 (dated 12 March 2025 in the official texto) expands registration, disclosure, and supervision rules; CNV's registry page states that from 26 May 2025 filings run through the TAD platform. CNV's Spanish investor warning on virtual-asset investments tells the public to consult the PSAV registry and operate only with registered providers, and notes that CNV regulates PSAVs rather than every virtual asset unless it qualifies as a valor negociable under Ley 26.831. This guide has not verified whether RedotPay (or any specific foreign card issuer) appears on the CNV PSAV registry.
Private availability signals never equal CNV inscription or BCRA approval. Not legal advice — re-read CNV/BCRA Spanish originals or hire Argentine counsel before ARS↔crypto funding.
Argentina's payment environment: Transferencias 3.0 and CVU wallets — pesos move; hard currency does not
Argentina's distinctive retail-payment fact in official statistics is how thoroughly immediate transfers dominate the Sistema Nacional de Pagos. BCRA's Spanish Informe de Pagos Minoristas 2025 reports that transfers represented 65.6% of retail payment operations after 24.6% growth, with immediate operations making up 97.7% of that transfer segment — 8,790 million immediate transactions (+25.3%). Push transfers administered by the networks rose 25.6% in quantity to about 7,478 million, and more than 61% of those push transfers involved a Clave Virtual Uniforme (CVU) on at least one side. Interoperable pagos con transferencia (PCT) reached 841.2 million operations (+40.7%). Nominal SNP value hit $3,372.9 billion (Argentine pesos as reported), described as more than 3.9× GDP in the same report.
Those rails are why Mercado Pago–style CVU wallets feel like daily infrastructure in Buenos Aires: QR PCT, CBU↔CVU splits, and DEBIN variants (including the 2025 "DEBIN programado" instalment tool flagged in the same BCRA annual report) keep ARS circulating without a foreign card. What they do not reliably clear is a USD-priced SaaS invoice, an overseas App Store charge, or a merchant that only accepts an international card network. Local debit/credit help only when the issuer enables foreign e-commerce — this guide has not verified a BCRA-published overseas decline-rate series.
Inflation-hedging stablecoin holding is a widely discussed retail behaviour in Argentina, but this guide does not treat blog rankings of "largest USDT market" as BCRA or CNV statistics. For payment plumbing, stick to the Transferencias 3.0 / CVU / PCT numbers above. RedotPay publishes no Mercado Pago, CVU, or Transferencias 3.0 funding integration on the Help Center pages reviewed here. A crypto-funded network card, when issued, is a parallel tool for foreign checkout — not a substitute for the ARS transfer stack BCRA measures in the billions.
What that means for a RedotPay user in Argentina
Think in layers. Layer 1 is BCRA's Transferencias 3.0 stack (8,790 million immediate transfers in 2025) — that is how rent and QR PCT move. Layer 2 is whichever Argentine debit card your bank will authorise abroad. Layer 3 is a RedotPay card, useful only when Layer 2 fails and Card is still offered after you re-check the lists. CNV RG 994/1058 police PSAV platforms, so unregistered crypto on-ramps stay your risk. Physical plastic waits on the English shipping form the app accepts.

Frequently asked questions
Is RedotPay legal in Argentina?
Two answers. RedotPay does not restrict Argentina on its unsupported-country, card-issuance, or card-delivery lists as rechecked on 17 September 2026. CNV Resolución General 994/2024 and 1058/2025 (Spanish originals) run the Registro de PSAV; CNV tells the public to use only registered providers. This is not legal advice.
Can I use RedotPay in Argentina?
On RedotPay's published lists, yes for most users as of 17 September 2026 — Argentina is not named on the three restriction pages. Eligibility is still decided per account in the app.
Does RedotPay work with Mercado Pago or CVU transfers in Argentina?
RedotPay does not publish a Mercado Pago or CVU integration on the Help Center pages reviewed for this guide. BCRA's 2025 retail-payments report puts immediate transfers at 8,790 million and interoperable PCT at 841.2 million; treat any crypto-to-CVU path as outside what this page can verify from RedotPay's docs.
Does RedotPay work in Argentina for online shopping?
When the app issues a card, the intended use case is merchants that accept the card network — often international online checkout that Transferencias 3.0 alone does not cover. Declines can still happen; check the card-payment-declined guide.
What if I can't log in to my RedotPay account?
On the Argentina login screen, tap Forgot password, verify with the email or phone on the account, and set a new password. RedotPay pauses withdrawals, internal transfers, and currency conversion for 24 hours after that reset, while card purchases keep working.
Why is my RedotPay account locked?
In Argentina accounts, five wrong passwords in a row trigger a 24-hour lock. Card spend can continue during the lock; wait it out or complete Forgot password once you can pass verification.
