What does Authorized mean on a RedotPay transaction?
RedotPay's Help Center defines Authorized this way: the merchant has received your payment request, but the transaction has not been fully processed yet. The amount is temporarily held, so it may look like it left your account even though it has not fully posted.
Within 1 to 4 days, an authorized transaction usually updates to one of these:
- Cleared — the payment is completed and the funds have settled with the merchant, typically within 1–2 days.
- Refunded — the payment is reversed because it did not go through or you received a refund. The amount is returned to you, usually within 2–15 days from when the refund is processed.
In some cases, an authorization can take up to 30 days to either clear or be released, depending on the merchant's policies. This page does not promise a fixed release date for every merchant.
What does Reversal mean, and how do I check it?
A Reversal means a transaction did not go through and has been voided, so the amount that was on hold is released and your balance stays the same. The status usually changes from Authorized to Reversal within 1–5 days.
When that happens, the original transaction stays in your history for that day, but its amount is shown as 0 instead of creating a new entry.
To check it in the app: open RedotPay and tap […] next to Transactions on your home screen to view your history.
Partial reversals: if the merchant finalizes the payment for less than the amount they first authorized, the difference is automatically reversed and released back to you. Whether the reversal is full or partial, the held amount is only released once the merchant completes their final settlement.
Why was the transaction declined but money still looks deducted?
RedotPay says it depends on whether the transaction was truly declined or still pending:
- Declined transactions — if a transaction is declined, you are not charged. No funds leave your account. You can check this anytime in your transaction history on the app's home screen.
- Pending transactions — sometimes an amount is held for a transaction that does not go through. If that happens, the held amount is usually refunded within 2 to 5 days, so there is nothing you need to do while you wait for that window.
Separate from status labels, RedotPay's fee table also charges a declined-transaction fee after the first three declines per card each month — see fees and limits. For decline troubleshooting (merchant network, card controls, balance), use card payment declined.
How long until a held amount comes back?
Use the timing windows RedotPay publishes for each path — not a single guaranteed number:
- Authorized → Cleared or Refunded: usually within 1 to 4 days; clear settlement typically 1–2 days; refunded amounts usually 2–15 days after the refund is processed; some authorizations up to 30 days.
- Authorized → Reversal: usually 1–5 days.
- Pending hold after a payment that did not go through: usually refunded within 2 to 5 days.
Merchant policies can stretch the upper end. If the status and the calendar window still do not match what you see, contact official RedotPay support with the time, amount, merchant name, and the status shown in the app — never send passwords, OTPs, or full card credentials to this independent guide.
Frequently asked questions
Does Authorized mean I have already been charged?
Not fully. Authorized means the merchant received the request and the amount is temporarily held. It may look like it left your account before the transaction fully posts.
How long does Authorized take to clear or release?
Usually 1 to 4 days to update to Cleared or Refunded. Cleared settlement is typically 1–2 days; refunded amounts usually return within 2–15 days after the refund is processed. Some authorizations can take up to 30 days.
What does Reversal mean on RedotPay?
The transaction did not go through and was voided. The hold is released and your balance stays the same. The status usually moves from Authorized to Reversal within 1–5 days, and the original entry shows amount 0.
Why do I still see a deduction after a declined payment?
Confirm the status in the app. A true decline does not remove funds. A pending hold for a payment that did not go through is usually refunded within 2 to 5 days.
How do I view Reversal in the RedotPay app?
Open the app and tap […] next to Transactions on the home screen to open your history. Look for the original entry on that day with amount 0.
